Typhoid Vaccination
Protection against typhoid fever, a serious bacterial infection spread through contaminated food and water.
About This Service
Typhoid fever is a potentially serious bacterial infection that's common in many parts of the world, particularly South Asia, Africa, and Latin America. It's transmitted through food and water contaminated with the feces of infected people. Without treatment, typhoid can lead to serious complications.
The injectable typhoid vaccine provides about 70% protection for approximately 3 years. It's especially important if you're traveling to high-risk areas, staying with friends and relatives, or engaging in adventure travel where you may have limited access to safe food and water. The vaccine should ideally be given at least 2 weeks before travel to allow time for immunity to develop.
