Cholera Vaccination
Oral vaccine protecting against cholera and some types of travelers' diarrhea.
About This Service
Cholera is a bacterial infection that causes severe diarrhea and dehydration. The oral cholera vaccine also provides some protection against certain types of travelers' diarrhea caused by E. coli. The vaccine consists of two doses taken 1-6 weeks apart.
The vaccine is recommended for travelers to areas with ongoing cholera transmission, particularly if you'll be working in refugee camps, after natural disasters, or in areas with poor sanitation. Protection begins about one week after completing the course and lasts for up to 2 years.
