NHS Repeat Prescriptions: How Our Service Works

Managing repeat prescriptions shouldn't be stressful. Learn how our NHS repeat prescription service makes getting your regular medication easier.
NHS Repeat Prescriptions: How Our Service Works
If you take regular medication, you'll know the routine: ordering prescriptions, waiting for your GP to process them, then collecting from the pharmacy. It can feel like a lot of effort, especially when you're busy.
At Pulteney Pharmacy, we offer a streamlined repeat prescription service that takes the hassle out of managing your regular medicines.
What is a Repeat Prescription?
A repeat prescription is for medication you take regularly for an ongoing condition—whether that's blood pressure tablets, diabetes medication, inhalers, contraceptive pills, or any other long-term treatment.
Instead of seeing your GP each time you need more, repeat prescriptions allow you to request refills directly.
How Our Repeat Prescription Service Works
Option 1: Electronic Prescriptions (EPS)
The NHS Electronic Prescription Service sends your prescriptions directly to us. No more paper prescriptions to lose!
How to set up:
- Ask your GP to nominate Pulteney Pharmacy as your preferred pharmacy
- Your prescriptions will automatically come to us
- We'll prepare your medication ready for collection
Option 2: We Order for You
If you register with our repeat prescription service:
- Tell us what medications you need (in person, by phone, or drop off your repeat slip)
- We request the prescription from your GP
- We notify you when it's ready to collect
- You collect at your convenience
It's that simple.
Option 3: Prescription Collection Service
We can even collect paper prescriptions from your GP surgery on your behalf—just ask.
